WHO ARE WE?

Founded by Gillian Apter in 1997, THE LINGUA-ARTS THEATRE COMPANY is an international group which promotes the use of THEATRE as an effective learning tool for English language teachers in Spain. Each academic year, the Company creates and performs FOUR bilingual plays for Spanish school students of all ages. Each play is carefully adapted to the linguistic needs of its audience, the main language being English, and the use of castellano aims to facilitate understanding and enhance enjoyment for all learners, no matter their level.

With our plays LINGUA-ARTS pursues several distinct goals: (1) to motivate young audiences further in their study of English; (2) to encourage a general interest in theatre in a bid to create future ongoing spectators; (3) to facilitate English language teachers with a fun, interactive and effective teaching method for both inside and outside the classroom; and (4) to boost awareness and interest in other worlds and cultures.
Based in Madrid, the company also tours extensively throughout Spain

a

e
“Performances of the Lingua-Arts Theatre Company are invariably entertaining, stimulating and highly professional. Their appeal is to children of all ages and their judicious mixture of English and Spanish means that even the weakest child can follow the storyline and enjoy the show. Congratulations to Gillian Apter and her team – we shall be looking forward to seeing more of them in the forthcoming school year.” Colegio Brains, Madrid
e
“Your plays motivate the students and involve them in the play, so they can help a character from the play, ask some questions about it...... It’s very difficult to find a good theatre company, but I’ll always choose The Lingua Arts Theatre Company because I’m sure that my pupils are going to enjoy themselves at the same time they learn English.” Colegio Sant Andreu, Badalona
e
e
“Year after year our students have enjoyed the nice performances by Lingua Arts. They think the actors are great and they find the plots funny as well as easy to understand. Even the plays based on Shakespeare's masterpieces are performed in a way that make the students follow the whole story with interest and pleasure. I'm sure we'll meet again next year!”
IES Vega del Táder. Molina de Segura (Murcia)
e
Ah... and it's real fun!” Felipe García, profesor, IES Beniaján, Murcia.
e
I.E.S. "Maestro Juan de Ávila", (Ciudad Real)
e
“… All I know is that when I look around at my students … they are ALL sitting quietly (some on the edge of their seats!) and ALL watching the actors, their eyes wide open, completely absorbed!” Colegio Ntra Sra Del Buen Consejo, Madrid
